The key point
Your watch records heart rate, pace, distance, elevation and device-dependent running metrics. TT Runner imports compatible source data and calculates VDOT-based E, M, T, I and R paces, grade-adjusted pace, heart-rate drift, Training Stress Score and weekly load. It does not clone Garmin. It adds training-analysis depth with its own metrics for runners who use other watches.

First: Apple and Samsung already provide running metrics

Apple Watch supports heart-rate zones, cadence, stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, running power, elevation and Training Load on supported software and hardware. Galaxy Watch records pace, distance and heart rate, while supported models and qualifying runs can show metrics such as VO₂ max and sweat loss.

TT Runner therefore does not create missing sensors. It adds a layer that compares compatible data across runs and interprets personal training pace, load and session intent.

Trusted performance data can define Easy, Marathon, Threshold, Interval and Repetition pace ranges.

Grade-adjusted pace

When route and elevation are available, GAP estimates the equivalent flat effort behind a hilly pace.

With sufficient HR coverage, it checks how cardiovascular cost changes later in the run.

TSS and weekly load

It places one session inside the runner's recent training-load pattern.

It relates the data to session intent and suggests a concrete next same-purpose adjustment.

How Samsung Health runs arrive

Galaxy WatchSamsung HealthTT Runner direct sync

In compatible environments, TT Runner uses the approved Samsung Health Data SDK to read the exercise, heart-rate and route data the user permits. Samsung's published requirements are Android 10 or later and Samsung Health 6.30.2 or later. Available fields still vary by watch model, recording conditions and permissions.

SETUP
  1. Update Samsung Health.
  2. Select Samsung Health in TT Runner settings.
  3. Grant exercise, heart-rate and route read permissions.
  4. Confirm the run appears in Samsung Health before syncing TT Runner.
Duplicate prevention
Enabling direct Samsung Health sync turns off TT Runner's Health Connect sync. When direct sync is unavailable, Health Connect remains an alternative route.

How Apple Watch runs arrive

A completed Apple Watch Workout is stored in Apple Health on iPhone. Grant TT Runner the required workout, heart-rate and route read permissions to import compatible records. Some metrics or routes may not be shared depending on the source app and privacy settings.

SETUP
  1. Start an Outdoor Run in the Apple Watch Workout app.
  2. After finishing, confirm it in Fitness or Health on iPhone.
  3. Connect Apple Health in TT Runner and grant the requested read permissions.
  4. Check sync status for the new run.

What “Garmin-level depth” does and does not mean

Without heart rate, HR-based metrics are limited. Without route or elevation, GAP is unavailable. If laps are not trustworthy, estimated splits are not promoted into PB, VDOT or detailed lap-pattern evidence.

Can TT Runner import Samsung Health runs?

Yes, in compatible Samsung Health environments on Android 10 or later. TT Runner uses the approved Samsung Health Data SDK to read exercise, heart-rate and route data directly. Enabling direct Samsung Health sync turns off TT Runner's Health Connect sync to prevent duplicates.

Can TT Runner analyze Apple Watch runs?

Yes. Complete the run in the Apple Watch Workout app, let it save to Apple Health, and grant TT Runner the required HealthKit read permissions.

Does TT Runner reproduce Garmin metrics?

No. TT Runner does not copy Garmin's proprietary metrics or algorithms. When enough compatible source data is available, it uses its own logic to calculate VDOT-based paces, GAP, heart-rate drift, TSS and weekly load.

Will every run show every metric?

No. Heart-rate metrics require sufficient heart-rate data, GAP requires route or elevation data, and detailed lap-pattern metrics require trustworthy laps. Missing data is not invented.
