TL;DR

See running rankings across 17 regions and the cities and districts inside them. Rank is decided by participation rate rather than total mileage, so ten runners going out once beats one runner logging 100 km. Verify your location once and you are in your area's ranking for 60 days. Regional ranking currently covers Korea.

Why running leaderboards get boring fast

Most running leaderboards sort by total distance. Once a high-mileage runner builds an early lead, the top of the board can become hard to change. A runner logging 20 km a week has little chance to close the gap on someone running 300 km a month.

Distance rankings are not wrong. But on that board most runners become spectators. Winning would mean doubling your training load, which is rarely a good idea.

A different axis: turnout

So the metric changed. Of the runners registered in your area, how many actually ran? That is the participation rate.

On that board the math works completely differently.

Ten people running 5 km beats one running 100

Participation counts people. However far a single standout runs, the neighborhood's standing barely moves.

Your first run today already counts

A 3 km recovery jog is the same single vote as a 30 km long run. You contribute from day one.

Small areas can win

Because it is a ratio, having more runners is not an automatic advantage. A small area where everyone turns out climbs.

How far down does it drill?

You start with 17 regions on a map. Tap one and it opens the cities and districts inside it. You are not stuck at "3rd in the province" — you can see where your own city places within it.

Pick this week or this month. Weekly counts only runners who went out this week, so it moves quickly; monthly is better for seeing a trend.

Map view and list view

The map shades each area by participation, and the list sorts it as numbers. Pinch and drag to find the area you want.

Verify your area once

To enter the ranking you have to say where you run. Verifying with your current location puts you in that area's ranking for 60 days. Move, or let it expire, and you simply verify again.

  1. Open the neighborhood running card on your home screen
  2. Verify your area with your current location (location permission required)
  3. Check your area's standing for this week or this month
  4. One run is enough to move the participation rate

What if you skip verification?

Your runs still record normally, but you do not count as a participant in the participation rate and your area is not highlighted for you on the map. A GPS-attributed run can still contribute to regional mileage totals and mileage rankings.

Running alone, counted as a team

The real draw of a neighborhood board is not the rank. It is that you can see runners from your own area.

You can cheer a runner straight from the list. No crew membership or prior acquaintance is needed. Seeing who else ran in your area can be motivation for your next run.

Standings can be shared as a card — an "I run in this area" format that carries your current rank, the participation rate, and the distance you contributed.

FAQ

How is the participation rate calculated?

It is the share of runners verified in an area who actually ran during the period. Running several times still counts as one person, so headcount matters more than distance.

How long does area verification last?

Verifying once keeps you in that area's ranking for 60 days. When it expires, verify again with your current location.

Can I see smaller areas than my region?

Yes. Start from the 17 regions, then select one to drill into the cities and districts inside it.

Which countries have regional ranking?

It currently covers Korea, and location verification works within Korea.

Where does your area stand?
